For over 20 years LibreOffice’s Mac-native interface was created by drawing pictures of buttons and checkboxes with outdated functions. While this has served us well, it still doesn’t look quite native, doesn’t provide the same standard behavior as first-party applications, and these outdated functions are going away. We can do better! From real native Mac controls, to third-party helpers, to Apple’s new standard writing and creation tools, this talk explores new possibilities to help LibreOffice look and work better on Apple platforms.
Dan joined the Document Foundation in late 2025 to focus on User Interface and Mac enhancements. After multiple roles in Red Hat’s desktop and networking teams, including OpenOffice.org maintenance for early Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora releases, Dan looks forward to working with the community to build an easier, better-looking, and smoother-working LibreOffice.
