Migration to and use of LibreOffice Technology - well known and new motivations and challanges with technical scope and human issues

With the shift to more cloud based collaboration there are new challenges beside the deployment of a desktop based installation. A short journey through old but still present and new of technical and non-technical aspects are presented in this talk and how TDF proof quality of migration consultants


A migration to LibreOffice Technology is in a professional deployment a complex technical and non-technical task. With the shift to more cloud based collaboration there are new challenges beside the deployment of a desktop based installation. May it be e.g. technical new devices like mobile/tablets or online apps or may it be motivations changing from cost arguments to a gain on digital sovereignty for example, all these new developments should be covered by state of the art migrations. The goal of the talk is to mention relevant LibreOffice technology family members for different devices and mention the technical relevant items which should be covered in migrations for them. A short journey through old but still present and new of technical and non-technical aspects are presented in this talk and how The Document Foundation proof quality of migration consultants for this with its certification program.

Lothar is a long time volunteer contributor to LibreOffice and its predecessors. With his company .riess applications he is over 20 years in the migration business with experience in medium and large projects for customers in public and private affairs. he co-developed the certification activities around LibreOffice technology and is nowadays the co-chair of the certification committee. During the pandemic he was the chairman of the board of The Document Foundation. He also is a board member of the Open Source Business Alliance and lobbying for digital sovereignty in private sector and public affairs.
